When did Brazilian Zouk begin? Brazilian Zouk is one of the newest partner social dances - it originated in the 1980s; so y'all are part of history in the making, how cool is that?? 😍

What is a Brazilian Zouk weekender? A weekender typically features a guest artist from out-of state, nationally or internationally, and consists of workshops, praticas, community gatherings, & social dancing 🥰 It's the chance to connect with others and yourself, and to be immersed in Brazilian Zouk for a whole weekend. There's nothing quite like it 💛💚💙

I won't be able to attend all the whole thing, can I attend only part of the event? Yes! We hope you'll join us in whatever capacity your time and schedule allows.

I want to be there, but I can't afford the whole sum right at once? We understand! Opt for our deposit option at registration~ pay 50% today and the remaining 50% will be automatically deducted from the original form of payment on April 1st, 2025. (If this timeframe is not possible for your budget and mental peace, please message us - we'll figure out something that works for you.)

William started his movement journey at the age of 7 when he was enrolled in a martial arts program. Three years later he received his first degree Black Belt, and at the age of 18, received his 4th degree Black Belt.

Professionally trained to teach starting at the age of 8, teaching as a part time job at 14, and as a full time career at 16, William has taught thousands of hours of group and private lessons, to both children and adults.

His super power is balancing intricate detail, and “keeping it simple.”

When he started in Bachata, he found himself learning to slow down and even breathe with his dance partners. Naturally finding his way into Zouk where it took over his entire world. Daily training for years and constantly seeking out the knowledge of others has led him to becoming an international Zouk instructor within 4 years of his journey. Now having taught in multiple countries and at many esteemed dance festivals in Brazil, William travels the world sharing his love and passion for dance. His two most important values within dance and teaching is growth and connection.

One of the greatest lessons he’s learned through his journey in dance has been, “It’s not about what you do, but about how you do it.” This has brought him to focus more on conceptualizing the dance, rather than, “patternizing” the dance.

The question? How can we have the body awareness of both ourselves and our partner, bringing the greatest sensation into the dance? How can we find ourselves completely lost in presence and time with our partner?

Verity Rose (she/her) started dancing at age 3 when she joined a friend’s tap/ballet class in Seattle, WA. Her passion for dance ignited instantly—so much so that she would eagerly ask her mom each morning, "Am I going to dance class today?" Dance has been her lifelong passion ever since.

In August 2021 she moved to Iowa City, and in April 2022 she founded V Rose Productions in order to bring Zouk events to the community. Since then, she has successfully hosted over 13 weekenders in Iowa City, Fairfield, Des Moines, Chicago, Omaha and Milwaukee. The profound joy and positive impact she's experienced from Brazilian Zouk drives her mission to share the art with as many people as possible across the Midwest and beyond through teaching and organizing community-, growth-, and heart-centric events.
